The Maragua crater, located at the North East of Sucre, it’s a curious geological formation with orographic scales of different colors that can be observed from a satellite. In a full day walk at the Jalq’a zone, visit the weavers of the Maragua community, departing from Sucre in the morning or after arriving to the airport, 45 km, until arriving to the Chamaquilla chapel. (Optional: 1 ½ hour walk in the pre Hispanic trails, until arriving to the Chaunuca community) from where continues the trip until arrive to the Maragua community. After the Box Lunch you will visit some native lodges to observe the Jalq’as tissues characterized by dark colors and the interposition of animal shapes.
After the visits, we will return to the Chaunaca farm, where you’re will dinner and overnight in rooms with private bathroom.
JATUN YAMPARA
At the east of Sucre, at 25 Km, short walk, for visiting some native lodges and observe their lifestyle, their behaviors and to share some time with the natives. They organize themselves to show their ancestral art by elaborating tissues and you will be able to appreciate the transformation of wool to tissue. Walking through the community you can arrive to the school where 20 kids assist, they will delight you with their songs in Quechua (native language), and you can take a present for them that can be school supplies in gratitude for their hospitality. If you like, you can walk a little bit more until arriving to the Yatiri’s House (wizard of the village) who’s going to read your luck and fortune in Coca’s leaves.
After the Challa to the Pachamama (ancient ritual of the community to the Mother Earth), we will have a typical lunch at the dining room.
A short break will give you the opportunity to contemplate the nature, the animals and typical plants of the region. Later you will start the visit to the Native Artisanal Jatun Yampara, which comprehends the visit to the artisanal workshop, small museums, sanctuaries, ceremonial constructions.
During the sunset and after dinner, you will overnight in one of the lodges conditioned for tourism, with private bathroom.
TARABUCO (ONLY SUNDAY).
The Tarabuco locality is located at 60 Km to the east of the city, it’s a Colonial Town and their most important activity it’s the agriculture, mainly focused on the cereal production. Their artisanal textile production reaches a singular recognition in design, color and motifs regarding of the principal attractions of the place. The Sundays, both their habitants as those near the surroundings, do their traditional exchange of products in the fair that gets installed in the main square. Lunch in a restaurant of the region, after this, you can walk in the colonial streets. In the afternoon you will return from the trip to the artisanal core of Jatun Yampara or Sucre (3 stars hotel). Dinner and Overnight.
CAISA D (Potosí).
The Caisa D population it’s located in the Calcha territory of Potosí, approximately 50 minutes away, inhabited by an ethnical group that speaks quechua, formed under the basis of ancestral ayllus. They have their own political organization, their own agricultural and festival calendar, and their textiles are very particular. You will visit some places of textile production, and some weavers to observe the Calcha textiles. You will have a Box Lunch in one of the most attractive landscapes of the route. Return to the city of Potosí. Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Potosí.
