Across the famous Andes Mountain Range, one can get to the subtropical and damp Yungas valleys. The road crosses diverse ecological scenarios and mountainous towns full of wonder.

The Takesi used to be an important Inca, Aymara and Tiawanacota Culture trail as well as a Spaniard trial during the conquest. At the moment, it is a well known Inca trail that connects the Altiplano and los Yungas through the Royal Range

Day 1:

Morning: Departure and two-hour transportation to San Francisco Mine at an altitude of 4,650 m (13,950´MSL) where the trial actually starts
 Afternoon: Arrival to Takesi town
Overnight stay at a campsite at 3,700 m (11,100´MSL)

Day 2:

Departure: Right after breakfast the descent from Takesi to Pongo starts. From the road the Quinsa Chata river can be seen.
Outdoor Lunch: At Kakapi area with subtropical climate and plentiful vegetation.
Afternoon: A six-hour walk to Pongo
Night: Overnight camp at 2,000 m (6,000´MSL)


Day 3:

From Pongo to Chojlla Mine at 2,280 m (6,840´MSL)
The two-hour descent starts at Takesi River and there is a later climb to Chojlla Mine which is operated by a cooperative of miners and whose working conditions can be observed as the tourists walk by.
The tour ends at this mine where a vehicle is waiting to take the tourists back to La Paz City.
